For those of you who do not know why a fabric is called "80's", allow us a quick lesson in textile science. 80's refers to the fine nature of the spun yarn. The higher the number, the finer the yarn. To spin such fine yarn you need high quality long staple cotton. We used extra fine yarn, often used on dress shirts, and wove a "featherweight" cloth. The Portofino is ultra light and breathable. It was inspired from the beautiful fine poplin shirts often making their rounds with gentlemen of the Italian Riviera. This season we have added a very subtle print that gives the shirt even more character.
